 My son has attended the Junior Bandura Workshop at Kobzarska Sich for several years.  Nick Smereka-Hladio has taught in various positions at KS. This summer, Nick was the junior bandura workshop's lead instructor.  I was very impressed to see how much the students learned in just one week.  Nick taught them  interesting ensemble pieces, and he also gave students the opportunity to challenge themselves with individual solo pieces.  I was impressed with Nick's ability to create a cohesive  ensemble out of students of various playing levels, all within one week.  I have known Nick for years as a music colleague; and now as a parent I am very happy to see Nick's  enthusiasm for teaching music to children.  He is a very good teacher, and I look forward to having my sons work with him in  the future. 

 My daughter Andriana, who is 15, has been taking private online double bass lessons with Nick, and we couldn’t be happier with the experience. When she started, she was completely new to the instrument, but thanks to Nick’s patient and encouraging teaching style, she has made amazing progress in such a short time.

Nick explains everything clearly, breaks down difficult techniques into simple steps, and always gives constructive feedback in a supportive way. His passion for music really inspires Andriana.

What we appreciate most is how Nick tailors each lesson to Andriana’s needs and makes learning both challenging and fun. He is professional, reliable, and genuinely invested in his students’ growth.
